With the sudden proliferation of Satellite Dish installations taking place in Academy
Heights, the Board of Governors has developed the following guidelines for Satellite
Dish Installation:
These guidelines apply to ALL current and future installations in Academy Heights.
Academy Heights Board of Governors has designated certain locations for the
installation of satellite dishes within the community.
- GROUND MOUNT: Must be located in the rear of lot and may be mounted
on masts.
- DECK/PORCH SUPPORTS: Must be mounted on DECK/PORCH supports.
Dish can be located no higher than the lower roofline in the case of covered
porches/decks.
- THE PLACEMENT OF SATELLITE DISHES ON THE ROOFS OR BUILDING
STRUCTURE OTHER THAN INDICATED IN A AND B ABOVE IS EXPRESSLY
PROHIBITED.
The following paragraph is extracted from FCC regulations dated May 1996 covering
this subject:
|
“Restrictions necessary for HISTORIC PRESERVATION may also be permitted
even if they impair installation, maintenance or use of the antenna. To qualify
for this exemption, the property may be pre-historic, historic district, site, building,
structure or object included in or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of
Historic Places.”
|
Academy Heights is eligible to be included in the National Register of Historic Places
and to that end Academy Heights has been working for the past 4 years to attain
registered status.
The guidelines for submitting an application for a satellite dish are the same as for
any other change to the exterior of the home, that is, application must be
submitted thirty (30) days prior to installation.
